Everyone knows the last few days before a trip can be hectic. Whether you are going to the beach or traveling abroad, it is easy to feel overwhelmed with all the tasks that need to be done. To help alleviate a lot of stress and last minute running around, I’ve created a handy pre-travel checklist for you!
☐ Notify your credit card provider of your travel dates to put a travel alert on your card. This will let them know that you’ll be traveling so they won’t turn off your card as a fraud prevention security measure.
☐ Call your phone service provider to check your international coverage.
☐ Send/give a copy of your travel itinerary, passport, travel insurance etc. to someone you trust and take a picture so you have an electronic version for yourself as well.
☐ Pre-pay bills or set up automatic payments for while you’re gone.
☐ Look up which time zone(s) your destination(s) is/are in and find out what the exchange rate is-consider downloading a currency converter mobile app.
☐ Check the weather forecast for your destination(s) so you can pack accordingly.
☐ Get the mail and put a hold on it with the post office or have a neighbor pick it up for you-especially if you’re expecting any larger packages and/or will be gone for an extended period of time.
☐ Make arrangements for your pet(s), if applicable.
☐ Water your plants, if applicable.
☐ Ask a neighbor you trust to keep an eye on your home while you’re away.
☐ Wash the dishes and take out your garbage/recycling.
☐ Charge your electronics that you’re bringing with you.
☐ Leave your front light on as well as an interior light to make it look like someone is home while you’re gone.
☐ Set your thermostat to the temperature you want it to be while you're away.
☐ Set your out of office messages for your work email and voice-mail so you can fully enjoy your vacation.
