With so many amazing options, how do you know which one is best for you? Whether you’re an adventure seeker looking to spend time hiking in the mountains or go snorkeling with stingrays and sharks, or you’re longing for some relaxation and pampering, this Tropical Destination Guide of some of my favorite places will help you choose the perfect spot for your next getaway!
Jamaica
One of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean, Jamaica has something for everyone. It is a very tropical island, nestled in the majestic blue mountains and boasts brilliant turquoise water and white sand beaches. The friendly people and vibrant Jamaican culture keep people coming back year after year. The island is famous for its reggae music, traditional colorful clothing, jerk style chicken/pork and Blue Mountain coffee. Luxurious resorts line the coast and you'll see some of the most breathtaking sunsets along the Seven Mile Beach in Negril.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is the perfect destination for someone looking for something a little different than the typical “beachy” Caribbean destination. There are certainly stunning natural beaches to enjoy here, but Costa Rica is so much more than a beach destination. It is known world-wide for its eco-tourism efforts and extensive variety of wildlife species. Many visitors love Costa Rica for its laid-back culture and lifestyle known as “pura vida” (the pure life). Traveling here is an outdoor enthusiast's and adventure lover's dream.
St. Lucia
St. Lucia stands apart from the rest of the Caribbean islands and is known for being the ultimate destination for romance travel: destination weddings, honeymoons, romantic escapes and anniversary getaways. It offers gorgeous beaches, majestic mountains, lush rain forests, botanical gardens, spectacular waterfalls-it’s basically the definition of a tropical paradise. There are a ton of excursion possibilities here too for those that like a little adventure.
Aruba
Aruba is the ideal island for someone who likes a mix of relaxing on a gorgeous beach and being able to immerse themselves in the local culture and explore the island with ease. Aruba’s beaches are among the world’s finest with crystal clear water and soft white sand. It's earned the name of the the Windsurf Capital of the World and with over 250 local restaurants to try, foodies will be in heaven here. Aruba is located outside of the hurricane belt, which makes it an excellent choice for fall travel, but with basically year round sunshine-the most of any Caribbean island-it's a fabulous choice anytime of the year.
Tahiti
If you're seeking an exotic destination that is on most people's bucket lists and want to potentially do some island hopping, then Tahiti is perfect for you. With its small peaceful villages, over-the-water bungalows and spectacular views, it's easy to see why the idyllic Tahitian islands have been rated the most romantic place in the world. Your time will be filled with blissful relaxation with the one you love and creating once in a lifetime memories like swimming with the stingrays and sharks.
