Just because you want to get married at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico doesn’t mean you want to have your ceremony right on the beach and deal with all that sand. Am I right?
The good news is that there are so many fantastic options for beautiful non-beach destination wedding venues in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. In fact, as a destination wedding travel agent I’m seeing more and more couples choosing other types of venues for their ceremony:

Two things to keep in mind about the list of ceremony venues I put together below.
1) Why This List is Different
When looking for non-beach wedding venues in Mexico, you’ll find plenty of lists online—but this isn’t just another generic roundup. This list is based on my firsthand experience as a destination wedding specialist, working directly with resorts and wedding teams to help couples bring their dream celebrations to life.
Choosing a venue that matches your aesthetic is important, but it's just a important to ensure it's at a resort that delivers the type of experience you want for both you and your guests. It doesn't make sense to fall in love with a pretty venue if the resort where it's located can't provide the level of service, amenities, and wedding planning support you need.
2) What I Mean by "Riviera Maya"
The definition of where the Riviera Maya is located exactly can vary depending on who you ask. Some people define it strictly as the stretch from Playa del Carmen to Tulum, but in most cases, it’s used more loosely to refer to the broader region along Mexico’s east coast—from Costa Mujeres down to Tulum.
For my list, I’m considering this wider area as the Riviera Maya, which includes some of the best all-inclusive resorts for a destination wedding. I've listed these ceremony venues in no particular order, but I have grouped them into resort areas going from north to south along the coast.

Located just north of Cancun, Costa Mujeres is a growing resort area known for its beautiful white-sand beaches and modern properties. It offers a more tranquil atmosphere than the busy Cancun Hotel Zone, with newer resorts that blend contemporary design and a laid-back, vacation-friendly vibe.
While excursions like cenotes and ziplining are farther south in the Riviera Maya, Costa Mujeres is a great base for popular excursions to the island of Isla Mujeres, including catamaran cruises and snorkeling trips.

Playa Mujeres is very similar to Costa Mujeres—with a location just north of Cancun, white-sand beaches, and modern resorts—but one key difference is that Playa Mujeres is a gated community. This gives the area a feeling of exclusivity while still offering a fun, resort-style vacation experience.
Like its neighbor, Playa Mujeres is a great jumping off point for boat trips to the island of Isla Mujeres, while adventure focused excursions like cenotes and ziplining are farther south in the Riviera Maya.

Located just south of Cancun, Riviera Cancun is one of the most convenient areas to reach from the airport. This stretch is home to many beautiful resorts with spacious, tropical grounds and is typically one of the more affordable sections along Mexico's east coast.
That said, the beach here can be hit or miss. The water often lacks the bright Caribbean blue color found in other areas and it can be quite murky—especially during the warmer months. Riviera Cancun may not be ideal for true beach lovers, but it's a great option for couples focused on value, convenience, and a scenic resort setting.
