Kima Tulum Wedding Review With Maya & Craig
Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?
To be able to celebrate for an entire long weekend with all of our best friends and family. And also because Mexico is just too beautiful!!!
What were your biggest concerns about planning a destination wedding? What were you struggling with the most before reaching out to EverAfter Travel?
Our biggest concern was figuring out accommodations/flights/airport transfers… coordinating all of that for our guests and keeping track of all of that.
What were your "must haves" for your destination wedding? What were the deciding factors for choosing your resort?
We wanted to make sure we chose a resort that would have enough rooms for everyone to be in one place, but not too large of a resort. Some of our other must-haves were: all-inclusive, 5 stars, good reviews, good food, good staff and easy access to beach.
Tell me about your wedding e.g. events, venues, special touches, etc. How many guests did you invite to your destination wedding and how many people ended up attending? If you're comfortable sharing, how much was the total cost of your destination wedding celebration (not including things like travel expenses, your dress, etc.)?
We invited 115 guests, 82 came! Total cost of our wedding was about $56,000. Our wedding was held offsite at Kima Tulum (highly recommended choosing an offsite venue, so much nicer!! more intimate, beautiful, easy to plan).
Was there anything you splurged on for your destination wedding and if so, did you feel like it was worth it?
Not specifically! We did add some extra last minute details to make the venue more fun and also the welcome bags for our guests (custom baseball caps, custom beach bags, lot of bag fillers).
Was there anything you tried to save on for your destination wedding and if so, did you feel like it was worth it?
Flowers!!! We kept very minimal because can't bring them home! It was sooo worth it because we had just enough that it looked awesome, everyone said how beautiful it was.
What were your favorite parts about your destination wedding?
Being able to party all weekend long! We danced until midnight on Thursday, partied at the beach on Friday, rehearsal cocktail party on Friday night, wedding was on Saturday, pool day on Sunday where we kept the party going and reminisced on the wedding!!
Is there anything you would change about your destination wedding?
NO!!!! It was perfect!
What were the most helpful online websites/social media groups/content creators/YouTube links that helped you during the planning process?
YouTube videos on destination weddings, Instagram - searching weddings in Tulum/at my venue for inspo, and Pinterest.
Shout out to any wedding vendors you loved e.g. photography, DJ, makeup, etc.
Nay (couconay) - wedding planner... absolutely AMAZING!! Salty beauty, Gabri Palmieri, Jesica Talento, Evolution Mix, Ginger Tulum, Rosarina Cakes. All of them so so so amazing!
What advice do you have for other couples planning a destination wedding?
DO IT!!!! It was so worth it in so many ways. Choose a venue off the of resort, that is my biggest advice.
What kind of feedback did you hear from your guests? This could be about the resort, the wedding, and/or EverAfter Travel.
That it was the best wedding they have ever been too! EverAfter Travel (Jodi) got many compliments - so nice and easy to work with. Secrets Tulum was a very nice resort.
Why did you choose to work with EverAfter Travel for your destination wedding?
They handled everything for my guests, I did not have to do anything!
How did working with EverAfter Travel make planning your intimate Tulum wedding easier/better/less stressful? Would you recommend EverAfter Travel to other couples planning a destination wedding?
WAY LESS STRESSFUL!!! It was so seamless to get all of my people to Mexico. I would recommend EverAfter Travel to everyone!!!
Anything else you'd like to add?
Jodi is so amazing, we appreciate her so much!!
