Top 10 Things To Do in Saint Lucia for Couples

One of the most picturesque islands in the Caribbean, Saint Lucia is known for its lush rainforests, hidden waterfalls, breathtaking mountains, and sandy beaches.

Did you know this is where I went for my own honeymoon? Yep, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!!

You can choose to do as little or as much as you like when you visit Saint Lucia, but for those of us who are all about trying new things on vacation, there are so many unique and exciting activities to choose from.

Below is my list of the top 10 things to do in Saint Lucia for couples.

NOTE: I’ve highlighted each activity individually below, but keep in mind that many can be combined together into a day trip.

# 1 The Pitons

The majestic Pitons are a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Gros Piton and Petit Piton. Undoubtedly the most iconic feature of Saint Lucia, these lush mountain peaks are a sight to behold and should be at the top of your to-do list. One of my favorite ways to see the twin peaks is via a romantic catamaran cruise along the coast.

# 2 Soufriere Sulphur Springs

Saint Lucia is home to the Caribbean’s only “drive-in” volcano. You won’t find lava flowing here, but the bubbling sulphur springs in Soufriere are a real highlight for nature-lovers. You can even take a therapeutic dip in one of the natural mud baths before washing off in Toraille waterfall nearby.

PRO TIP: Be sure to wear a dark-colored swimsuit because the minerals in the mud baths can cause discoloration.

# 3 Hiking

The Tet Paul Nature Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in Saint Lucia. It is a gentle uphill trail that takes about 45 minutes and offers outstanding views of the Caribbean Sea and the Pitons. For those looking for a more challenging hike (and who are quite fit), it is also possible to climb to the summit of Gros Piton for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

# 4 Pigeon Island National Landmark

Pigeon Island is a scenic 44-acre national park that’s full of rich history and culture – it’s essentially a living museum and it’s Saint Lucia’s most important historical attraction. Visitors can explore the ruins of a colonial military fort, hang out at one of two beautiful beaches, or enjoy some delicious local cuisine at the park’s restaurant. And, a short climb up to the peak will reward you with 360-degree panoramic views of the island.

PRO TIP: This is a great option for travelers staying at nearby Sandals Grande St. Lucian who are looking to do some exploring and independent hiking without a guide.

# 5 Ziplining Through the Rainforest

There’s no better place to experience the thrill of ziplining than Saint Lucia. This high-flying adventure will give you an adrenaline rush for sure, but it also provides a unique perspective of the island’s natural wonders from an elevated position. Soaring through the treetops of the rainforest canopy is exhilarating and truly awe-inspiring!

# 6 Diamond Botanical Gardens

In addition to the vibrant exotic flora, the Diamond Botanical Gardens also features the dazzling Diamond Falls. Cascading down 50 feet, this is a unique waterfall that gets its changing colors from the mineral deposits of the area. Even if you’re not a floral fanatic, this tropical oasis is a peaceful retreat from the outside world that deserves a visit.

# 7 Castries Market

The best shopping in Saint Lucia can be found at the Castries Market. Lined with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to spices to handcrafted souvenirs, this is the largest open-air market on the island. Markets like this are a great way to take in the sights and sounds of island life and meet some friendly locals.

PRO TIP: Early mornings are generally the best time to visit when there are fewer crowds while Saturdays are the liveliest day when farmers bring their produce and spices to town.

# 8 Rum & Chocolate Tasting

In Saint Lucia, the islanders pride themselves on producing extremely tasty Caribbean rum. You can visit a rum distillery to learn about how rum is made and try their signature rums and liqueurs. Saint Lucia is also famous for its chocolate and after learning about the process of turning cocoa beans into chocolate, you can do some sampling of your own. Sign me up!

# 9 Horseback Riding

Saddle up with your partner and take a horseback ride along a sandy beach and into the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. This activity is good for beginners or experienced riders. Most guided tours will also take you along gorgeous hillside trails with spectacular vistas and include a stop to enjoy some local treats.

# 10 "Jump Up" Street Party

For the young at heart, the Gros Islet “Jump Up” street party is the place to be on Friday nights. Residents welcome visitors and locals alike for a fun night full of good food/drink and lively music – the atmosphere is electric! This is one of the best things to do in Saint Lucia if you want to immerse yourself in the culture and have a really authentic experience.

There are so many incredible activities and adventures awaiting in Saint Lucia. With its range of diverse opportunities, one thing you certainly won’t find here is boredom!
